What is a Prop Bet?

A prop bet – or “proposition bet” — is a type of sports bet that is not directly related to the outcome of a single game.

Essentially anything besides point spreads, totals, and moneyline bets are considered prop bets. Total rushing yards, number of completions, and total passing yards are all examples of prop bets.

Futures are similar to prop bets but are for events that occur in the future (hence the name) and are typically related to season-long accomplishments, such as will Josh Allen win MVP or will Alabama win the SEC Championship Game. Our Futures Bet Finder is available here.

Prop bets are not typically available until a couple of days before any football game. This gives the sportsbook the chance to factor injuries, weather, etc into the odds.
